Storyline: Natwar is just a young boy when his beloved older brother and caretaker, police officer Gridharilal (Ajit), is framed for bribery by sinister criminal mastermind Vikram (Amjad Khan). When he grows up, Natwar (Amitabh Bachchan) creates a secret identity for himself, posing as a powerful and mysterious underworld figure named Mr. Natwarlal, determined to slowly but surely exact vengeance on Vikram.
When Natwar sees his honest police inspector brother being prosecuted on account of false implications by an underworld smuggler Vikram, he looses faith in justice and honesty. Even after his brother is proved innocent he cannot forget the guy who caused his family much damage. He grows up to a clean-looking smuggler who smugglers from bad guys and distributes the loot among poor. He is devoted to his brother and sister-in-law. He has one ambition: to find out Vikram and seek revenge.
Girdharilal is a honest police inspector, and lives with his wife, Seema, and a younger brother, Natwar. He has been assigned the case of apprehending notorious gangster, Vikram Singh. But the wily and elusive Vikram, entraps Girdharilal, and gets him arrested, dismissed from employment, and imprisoned. Natwar is a silent spectator to his brother’s victimization, and swears to avenge this humiliation. When Natwar grows up, he takes to crime for a career, and at the same time, makes attempt to locate Vikram Singh. He is successful in locating him in the hilly regions of Northern India, and he accordingly relocates there himself. Upon his arrival, he realizes that there is more to Vikram than he had bargained for, as he now has to convince suspicious villagers about himself; hoodlums who abduct people and enslave them; and a man-eating tiger.
